The braided ribbon ornaments of the Maiden of the North silver necklace are connected by four pea chains. The braided ribbon ornaments act as the necklace’s locking mechanism: change the look of the necklace by locking the ornaments behind your neck, at the front or to the side. Length 40.5 cm, not adjustable. Also available as a longer version (47 cm).

In the Kalevala, the Finnish national epic, the Maiden of the North was a force to be reckoned with: strong, cunning, wise, and skilled in all sorts of magic and charms. She could use those charms to make women laugh, the winds blow and the sea howl.

Care instructions for silver jewelry

Kalevala silver jewelry is handcrafted in Finland from sterling silver. More than 99% of the silver we use is recycled.

Over time, all silver jewelry darkens. Darkening can be prevented by regular cleaning and proper storage of the jewelry. Dark spots can be removed with a Kalevala cleaning cloth. After cleaning, it is a good idea to wash the jewelry in mild soapy water so that the cleaning agent does not stain the clothes. The cleaning cloth is not suitable for cleaning stones set in silver jewelry.

It is good to keep the jewelry in its original packaging. Additional protection for jewelry without
against the darkening effect of impurities is provided by a tight plastic bag.
