PRODUCT DESCRIPTION AND FEATURES

The prototype for this bronze pendant, an exquisitely engraved silver brooch found in Mikkeli, dates from the northern crusades (1150-1250 AD). Lighter jewelry was replacing the heavier Viking style by that time, and the use of silver was increasing. The extensive floral ornamentation is evidence of the design’s eastern origin. The popular pendant was one of the first Kalevala jewelry designs, introduced in the late1930s, and it remained in the collection till the 2010s. Diameter 46 mm, patterned on both sides. Anchor chain 70 cm, no clasp.

Care instructions for bronze jewelry

Bronze is an alloy of copper, tin and zinc which
tarnishes faster than precious metals. The new bronze jewelry has a jewelry protector
varnish surface that prevents the jewelry from darkening. With the Kalevala cleaning cloth, you can
polishes areas that have dimmed if the protective varnish has worn off.
After cleaning, it's a good idea to wash the jewelry in mild soapy water, so as not to damage the cloth
